“Lovers in the Parking Lot” is the next single from True, Solange’s upcoming collaborative record with Dev Hynes (better known as Blood Orange) and it’s fantastic. It’s not quite as bubbly and instantaneous as first cut “Losing You,” but that’s fine – Hynes’ production is detailed and maximalist, layered with pianos, drum machines, and a wandering bassline, but never detracts from Solange’s beautifully stacked harmonies as she reckons with a relationship gone wrong – “I played around with your heart, and now I’m playing around in the dark… I guess I played myself from the start.” Check it out.
