Britt Daniels and co. have been releasing a special bonus track each month on the official Spoon website for the last two years. The selection of demos and alternate versions stem from a wide range of previous recordings, as well as previously unreleased material. Sources for these demos include 2002’s Kill The Moonlight, 2007’s hugely successfully Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, and a few b-sides as well. Now the Austin rock band is releasing the compilation as a boxed set entitled Bonus Songs: 2008 – 2009. “Rhythm and Soul” (Demo) sums it up pretty well; it sounds looser and less polished than the studio version, Daniels’ vocals a little more muffled, the bass a bit more in your face. Bonus Songs 2008 – 2009 is available now on their website, a must for any hardline fan.

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
