Cover of the day: The Big Pink took to BBC’s Radio 1 to record a few tracks from their upcoming second LP Future This (dropping January 16) and also delivered the take on The Smashing Pumpkins “Mayonaise” they’ve been performing live recently.
The band do a nice job echoing the massive, almost cavernous atmospheric quality of the original despite their limited instrumentation and lack of Billy Corgan – we like how they downplay the grunge fuzz and amp up the fizzling, space-y reverb, tucking it in with the poppy vibe of their original material without doing away with the song’s passion and energy. Listen.
