The Dodos are definitely looking to turn some heads with their new album No Color, after instilling New Pornographers folk queen Neko Case to appear on apparently half the songs. The San Francisco outfit has just dropped the uplifting first single “Black Night,” (Case does not appear here) one which rises to a fever pitch, rapidly combining swift guitar strings and thumping drum rolls.

It’s as upbeat as “Two Medicines” from 2009′s Time To Die, only here frontman Meric Long’s baritone keeps up with the spirited instrumentation, matching in intensity and vigor. It feels like this would sound awesome live.

No Color is out March 15th via Frenchkiss.
