In the face of yet another Halloween put a damper on by insane weather, relax and focus your attentions toward a hopefully mild holiday season with another new cut from the upcoming star-studded seasonal record Holidays Rule. This one is courtesy The Shins, who deliver a sunny, cheery, bubbly take on “Wonderful Christmastime” that’ll have you counting down the days. This track was a good choice for these guys to cover: with its Beach Boys-y bounce, echoed percussion, cute toy piano, and fun vocals from James Mercer, the end product sounds like your favorite Shins song. Check it out – the rest of the record drops October 30.

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
