We liked the Vaccines’ 2011 record What Did You Expect From the Vaccines? but, unfortunately, it didn’t seem to make much of a splash stateside. Clearly, navigating the trials and tribulations of growing up and finding their niche in a brutal hype cycle has influenced the quartet: their brand new single has a pretty dark title (“No Hope”) and the record it introduces a more contemplative one: The Vaccines Come of Age. Appropriately, “No Hope” sounds like a grown-up, fleshed-out version of the Vaccines you’re used to – that driving groove and those bubbly guitars that interweave under Justin Young’s self-deprecating chorus are fully realized elements of a potential the band’s always been hinting at. Feeling lost, confused, or unsure of your future? This is your summer jam. Check it out.
