This month marks the fiftieth anniversary of The Rolling Stones, so the BBC is celebrating with plenty of special content and covers, including this take on The Stones’ 1965 single “Blue Turns to Grey” by The Walkmen (who have, as of last year, been around for a comparatively lame but still rather impressive decade).
This wistful slow-burner really works for The Walkmen – those guys are experts when it comes to guitar balladry (as their new record Heaven proves) and frontman Hamilton Leithauser expertly takes on Mick Jagger’s vocals. Check it out.
