We’ve had the Walkmen’s new single “Heaven,” the title track from their upcoming sixth record, on repeat since the minute it dropped, so we’re psyched to now be able to interchange it with another Heaven cut, “Heartbreaker,” which just premiered on BBC 1. We’d say it was a great pop ballad if the chorus wasn’t “I’m not your heartbreaker / some tender ballad player,” so we’ll just have to say it’s another pitch-perfect specimen of a Walkmen song – driving rhythm section, tight guitar weaves, Hamilton Leithauser’s classic wail… If you can tear yourself from singing along with Leithauser (we know it’s hard), heed an ear to the way Paul Maroon’s guitar wail pitch-shifts during the break about a minute and a half in. Heaven drops June 5.
