We all knew that Drake was an aficionado of indie music, but goddamn! The Canadian superstar posted a few tracks from an up and coming electro/r&b/lounge act, The Weeknd, who are also from Toronto. It’s hard to find any information about them, but what we were able to conjure is that they’re a duo, consisting of Abel Tesfaye’s vocals and Jeremy Rose as producer. The outfit have four tracks to their name floating amongst the blogosphere but “What You Need” seems to be the stand out, brimming with dreamy sounds and a smooth hard hitting bass. It starts off like something from Star Slinger or Hard Mix, but unfolds into luxurious r&b that isn’t sampled, but painstakingly organic. Listen to it below:
