If Tokyo Police Club wanted a way to be blogged and written about for ten days in a row without even releasing a new album, than they’ve certainly found one. Applause.
The Ontario based indie rockers have caught our attention for their 10 Songs, 10 Hours, 10 Years project where they’re covering ten tracks from ten different bands, one from each year starting in 2001. They’ve nailed Moby’s “Southside” (2001) and Jimmy Eat World’s “The Sweetness” (2002) thus far, and now have released their rendition of The Strokes’ 2003 Room on Fire track “Under Control” and Kelly Clarkson’s 2004 mega-smash and all-around awesome song, “Since U Been Gone”.
Seems like the band is going for songs that more or less defined the year, in certain circles anyway. Enjoy both covers below:
