Wampire have covered Kraftwerk’s “Das Modell,” and it sounds just about how you would expect as the precise German language song gets dragged through a 2013 filter of Portland-bred psychedelia. It retains and updates the creepy feeling of removal communicated by the original, whose wonderful strangeness becomes more pronounced if you read a translation of the lyrics. “She exposes herself for consumer products / And is being seen by millions of eyes / Her new cover is simply gorgeous / I must see her again, I know she’s made it.”

This is the B-side to Wampire single “The Hearse.” It’s out now digitally, and February 22 on purple vinyl, via Polyvinyl Records.
