Everyone, myself included, made a lot of fuss about Ty Segall’s releasing three records in 2012 and somehow overlooked the fact that his sometime collaborator and tourmate White Fence tied with him. Tim Presley dropped a duo of releases called Family Perfume, volumes one and two, as well as the collab record / small psych-punk masterpiece he did with Segall, Hair. Presley’s bouncing back quickly, too – he’s got another new record, Cyclops Reap, geared up for release on Castleface this spring. “Pink Gorilla” is our first taste and it’s fantastic: classic psychedelic textures, distant, edited vocals, intense distortion. The song’s latter half in particular is the stuff of your trippiest dreams. Cyclops Reap is out April 9.
