At last night’s channel ORANGE listening party held for the press, journalists were delighted to learn that OutKast’s eccentric André 3000 appears for a guest verse on Frank Ocean’s “Pleasure.” A guest spot from Three Stacks used to be an esoteric honor, but dude’s been getting around lately –– hopefully a sign that he’s itching to get back in the studio for a solo, or better yet, OutKast project. Nevertheless, André always brings his A-game. After his star-making contributions to last year’s Watch The Throne, it seems like the upper echelon of hip hop is really embracing the Freshman crooner, which can only mean great things for Ocean’s career.

It’s not only hip hop royalty that grace the songs of the “cinematic” channel ORANGE though, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All’s own prodigal son, Earl Sweatshirt also makes an appearance. We’ve heard the two on the same track before, on “Oldie,” a highlight from this year’s very good OF Tape Vol. 2.

As expected, the album includes several previously heard tracks in one way or another, including an updated version of fan-favorite “Thinking About You,” fleshed out iterations of live cuts “Forrest Gump,” “Super Rich Kids,” a fleeting sample of acoustic Tumblr leak “Voodoo” and, of course, the fantastic and epochal proper single “Pyramids.” channel ORANGE is out July 17th and by all accounts, it’s pretty damn awesome.
