Most bands tend to announce their new record all in one package, with a date, a title, a tracklist, a cover, and usually even a single to go along with it. Vampire Weekend are not most bands – first they confirmed the record was done, then they confirmed it’d be released May 7, then they started spamming the acronym MVOTC over every social media outlet, leading many fans to discern the album title must have something to do with Martha’s Vineyard (though the best hypothesis I saw was My Veautiful Oark Twisted Cantasy). Turns out the record’s called Modern Vampires of the City – the band confirmed it today in the New York Times classifieds. It’s got gorgeous cover art and some text that’s not Futura, and a 12-song tracklist that includes a song named after the singer of Dominant Legs, Hannah Hunt. We’re not sure who Diane Young is yet though. Stay tuned!
