We started to get really psyched about the National’s upcoming Trouble Will Find Me late last week when video surfaced of the band playing three fantastic new tracks live, and now they’ve released a first official single, “Demons,” so our anticipation level is pretty much near maximum.

The title’s appropriate; it sounds like Matt Berninger’s still wrestling with some urban ennui – “when I walk into a room, I do not light it up,” he sings so dourly it sounds obvious – while his band wrestle with crashing, echoed guitar chords, big drums, and emotive strings. The record’s out May 21.
