Athens, Georgia’s Of Montreal have been steadily releasing quality records since 1997 – February’s Paralytic Stalks was their eleventh album – but though they’ve likely gathered quite a few unused tracks in fifteen years, they’re just now releasing their first compilation of rarities, Daughter of Cloud. You can sample the first taste of rare material just seeing the light of day with “Our Love is Senile,” which establishes some pretty high hopes for the rest of the comp in that it doesn’t sound at all like a cast-off: that bubbly pop guitar, rollicking drums, and typical wit from Kevin Barnes could fit just as easily on one of the band’s records. Check it out – the compilation will drop October 23.
