Today it was announced that Radiohead’s amazing new record, A Moon Shaped Pool, was the band’s sixth No. 1 in their native UK, selling 50,000 records this week, despite missing out on two days of sales (the set was released on Sunday instead of Friday).
On the other side of the Atlantic, the good news continues for Radiohead. HITS Daily Double, America’s alternate music industry tracker, reports that the band will top the US album sales chart—though they will be bumped to No. 3, behind Drake and Beyoncé, once streams are factored in (Radiohead are notoriously anti-streaming).
Here is how the US sales break down:
- Radiohead (XL) 175k
- Drake (YMCMB/Republic) 167k
- Beyoncé (Columbia) 154k
Not bad for a band whose commercial breakthrough came some 23 years ago!
