Nearly seven years after releasing their massively influential and popular Silent Shout, The Knife have finally announced a follow-up album, Shaking the Habitual.

While they certainly like to take their time, The Knife has been around in one form or another over the years; in 2009, one half of the duo, Karin Dreijer Andersson, released an excellent solo album as Fever Ray, and in 2010, they released an opera, Tomorrow, in a Year. But Knife fans the world over can consider those as warm ups to the real deal, which is out on Mute this spring.

Watch Shaking the Habitual typically indecipherable trailer/announcement video below; and don’t think for a second that it’s a coincidence that this all came out on 12/12/12.

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
