Verve Records has been doing its Verve Remixed series for a while, but their next release is probably one of the best remix album ideas we’ve ever heard. For Verve Remixed: The First Ladies, a diverse handful of DJs and producers from Bassnectar to Flume have re-upped jazz and R&B classics by women. Here’s our first sample, Toro Y Moi’s reinterpretation of Billie Holiday’s “My Man.” It’s probably one of the last musical pairings you’d ever suspect, but it’s fantastic – Toro lays on some of his signature chilly, after-dark vibe to great effect.
