Ariana Grande has released the second single from her upcoming album, Dangerous Woman—“Be Alright”. The track, first premiered in a fabulous live performance on Saturday Night Live, is as restrained as it is lovely—nary a superhuman vocal run here. In not-so-rare form, Grande apes a gleaming deep house aesthetic that fits her much better than pleather bunny dominatrix cosplay headgear. (Seriously, what is that?)
For the record, other aesthetics Grande has mastered include: bb Mariah, ‘50s girl group, turn-of-the-millennium Beyoncésque romantic emancipation, outer-space diva, K-Pop feminist.
Here’s to lowkey the most cogent trend expositor in pop.
