London four-piece outfit Zola Blood, the latest act to sign with Pond Life, became the 4th most blogged about artist on the Hype Machine with the success of their debut single, "Grace," which garnered them 100,000 listens. According to a press release, the group are prepping the release of their debut Meridian EP, which they apparently "developed over a year in a windowless Hackney Wick studio." With a sound that's both "minimal and textured," "Grace" is a soaring electronic soundscape, while their latest, "Meridian" is more subdued, but still effective, an ambient piece of subtle electronic music that relies on a quiet but throbbing drum line. Kind of brings Local Natives to mind, if they were partial to beats and synthesizers. Hear it below; Meridian EP is out in October.
