Kendrick Lamar celebrates last night's two GRAMMY wins ("Best Rap Song," "Best Rap Performance" for "i") by dropping a brand new Boi-1da-produced track called "The Blacker The Berry." It's presumably off of Kendrick's upcoming, still-unannounced follow-up to good kid, m.A.A.d. city. Much like the untitled track he performed on The Colbert Report a couple months ago, "The Blacker the Berry" is seething and unrelenting, the polar opposite of the breezy, Isley Brothers-sampling "i." We're really digging the potential of an album that balances righteous anger and the exorcism of societal demons with positive vibes and messages of self love. If anybody could pull it off, it's Kendrick.
It's visceral and unrelenting, the opposite of the bright and cheerful "i"
