Lady Gaga has fully embraced pop-rock in her new “raw and exposed” album, Joanne. Case in point: new Mark Ronson and Bloodpop produced single “A-Yo”, which features handclaps, an honest-to-god guitar solo, and some of Gaga’s most piercing vocal blasts to date. We first heard this song premiered live at Gaga’s Bud Light-sponsored “dive bar tour.”
Her most cohesive album yet, Joanne was produced and written in large part by Lady Gaga and Ronson. Additional contributions come from illustrious indie-world luminaries: Tame Impala, Beck, Florence (sans the Machine), Josh Homme, Father John Misty, and Bloodpop (fka Blood Diamonds). Nashville darling Hillary Lindsey co-wrote Joanne’s wonderful second single and country-ballad centerpiece, “Million Reasons”, as well as the new single, “A-Yo”.
Joanne is out October 21. Listen to “A-Yo” below.
