Lorde is already a pop star in her native New Zealand, and you'll want to trust their taste on this - her sweet, supple voice, snappy, smart lyrics, and effortlessly zeitgeist-tapping production are set to make her a big part of a lot of people's summer. The Auckland native's only sixteen, which explains the lyrical content of her single "Tennis Court" (not only that Taylor Swift-ian "Baby, be the class clown, I'll be the beauty queen in tears" or those witty references to the teenage game of thrones, but didn't you go hang out on your high school's courts when you were sixteen?), but she's got a preternatural sense for irresistible pop. She's also got great taste in songs to cover - "Tennis Court" is backed by a lovely cover of the Replacements' "Swingin' Party." We can't wait to hear more from her. Check out both tracks here.
