In regard to their upcoming sixth full length, frontman of contemporary jam outfit My Morning Jacket, Jim James, stated “this is the most live record we've ever done.” After hearing title track, “Circuital,” and now the deliciously sinful “Holding On To Black Metal,” it's easy to see what he means.
The new track, which the Louisville ensemble premiered on their facebook page yesterday, is built on the foundation of James' soprano and what sounds like a girls choir which appears during the chorus. There's a ton of rad fuzzy guitar solos, a touch of jazz influence, and a whole lot of that MMJ swagger. Circuital comes out May 31st via ATO.
