Days ago, just in time for summer, we heard the Justin Timberlake-featuring "Love Never Felt So Good," the first taste of Michael Jackson's posthumous Xscape, which Sony will release via its Epic label on May 13th. You may have already heard teases of official album single "Chicago" (also known as "She Was Lovin Me") but now a proper, full version of the Timbaland-produced song has managed to find its way online. "Chicago" was originally recorded for Jackson's 2001 album, Invincible, but didn't make the cut. "Jackson had a habit of over-recording for albums; often times this meant outstanding songs were left on the cutting room floor," reads the album's liner notes.
Jackson had recorded "Chicago" at New York's Hit Factory in 1999. Timbaland, lead producer on Xscape, has contemporized it, alongside the album's seven other tracks, to make it feel new. For those of you looking for that raw, gritty stuff, the original recordings will be available on the deluxe edition. Of course. Xscape drops on the 13th.
