We love the Smith Westerns’ bubbly, summery new single "Weekend,” the first offering from January 18th’s Dye it Blonde, and now there’s a video to go along with it – a video that backs up the song’s breezy, youthful energy. If this is a typical day for the band, I’d like to hang out with them – they hit up the mall (Claire’s!), the record store, and the arcade, wander around in a foggy field with shotguns, get personalized jackets, shotgun beers, and eat cheese fries. What more could you possibly want? Watch the clip below:

Precocious Chicago indie rockers Smith Westerns are back with the lead single from their upcoming second record Dye it Blonde, “Weekend.” If this track’s anything to go by — and I hope it is — the new record, going for a January 18 release, will be more tuneful and better produced than its well-received, self-titled predecessor. “Weekend” is bubbly and summery and, well, weekend-y – it’s full of carefree, winding guitars and Cullen Omori’s young-love lyrics and sweet falsetto. It sounds like something you’d play while driving around in your mom’s boat-sized station wagon with your first girl- or boyfriend, all the color impossibly bright. Give it a listen.
