"Rude Boy," an early 2010 single from Rihanna's dark Rated R album, is one of the best moments of contemporary pop in recent memory, drawing inspiration and heaps of swagger from ladies like Aaliyah and Missy Elliott. Now Rihanna has more or less offered a sequel with "You Da One", the next single from the upcoming Talk That Talk LP.
After a harrowing year, Rihanna's ice queen performance in "Rude Boy" was bold and thrilling. After a banner 2010/2011, she is as cheerful and bubbly as she is on – what I now believe is one of the better pop songs of the year – "We Found Love". Take a listen below:
Rihanna - "You Da One"
Talk That Talk is out November 21. It will feature Jay-Z on the title cut, and it will sample the xx on a track called "Drunk on Love". Listen to Rihanna pay homage to the xx's Romy Madley Croft on her track with Drake, "Take Care".
