I spend a lot of time praying to St. Vincent mastermind Annie Clark to stay weird, and either she's hearing my prayers or she's a goddess beyond human reckoning who's just doing it anyway (I suspect the latter). Anyway she's released two lovely and weird songs on a 10" for Record Store Day's Black Friday, and those tracks, "Pieta and Sparrow," have just surfaced online. I'm particularly digging "Pieta," which is built up on an understated, jungly backbeat that sounds like a thunderstorm advancing across the desert. "Sparrow," which sounds like Frankenstein's monster lurching toward the sunset, is pretty amazing too. Check out both tracks below or head to a record store to snag the vinyl.
