I'm pretty sure I can count on both hands the albums that are better than the Rolling Stones' 1971 album Sticky Fingers. It's not with minor anticipation that I wait for my copy of the "Deluxe Double LP" set.

The reissue, out June 8 in various formats, promises unreleased treasures. We've already heard a gorgeous, acoustic rendition of "Wild Horses", which the band shared late last month. Today, the band has shared another alternate take, this time one of the beloved jam track "Can't You Hear Me Knocking". The raw take strips the official LP recording of its more indulgent moments, favoring a meat and potatoes approach. So, say goodbye to choruses, swampy guitars, extended sax solos, and the thick Mardi Gras atmosphere. I think there's room for both versions in any Stones fan's library.
