The Hold Steady Tours, Covers Springsteen, Makes Documentary

The Hold Steady Tours, Covers Springsteen, Makes Documentary covers

The Hold Steady, one of the greatest and most consistent rock bands of this generation, is releasing a live documentary called A Positive Rage, which, considering their live reputation, should be phenomenal. The DVD comes out on April 7th, along with an extra live album.

Make sure to check out the band’s fantastic cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City” (for the latest charity covers album, War Child: Heroes), right here. The cover adds horns to brilliant effect, and since Finn already sounds a lot like Springsteen, it works really well overall. Listen to the cover:

Band Of Horses Announce Tour Dates

Band Of Horses Announce Tour Dates live music

Band of Horses, led by the bearded Ben Bridwell, will be asking people all across the U.S. if there’s a ghost in their house this year. Their most recent album, Cease To Begin, was easily one of 2007’s best, and their live show is consistently hyped up. Click on for Band of Horses’ early 09 tour dates, and check if they’ll be playing anywhere near you (The June 11th Carnegie Hall acoustic performance should be particularly great). TV On The Radio GOING ON TOUR!

TV On The Radio GOING ON TOUR! live music

Taking into account everything I’ve heard about the TV On The Radio live experience, it seems like their mediocre SNL performance was a fluke. This opinion of mine was completely verified a few nights after SNL on the Colbert Report, where they brought the house down (not like I wasn’t already convinced by their much earlier appearance on Letterman’s fire escape). I don’t know about you, but I want to hear as many Dear Science songs as possible live- especially “Halfway Home” and “Family Tree.” I’m going to get my CENTRAL PARK tickets as soon as possible. That’s right- Central Park. Click on for tour dates. Continue reading →

New Of Montreal- Id Engager

New Of Montreal Id Engager listen

Of Montreal’s Skeletal Lamping (album art, above) is set to hit shelves October 7, 2008 and yesterday, Pitchfork streamed the band’s first single, “Id Engager” and closing track to of Montreal’s ninth studio album. The new song stays true to Hissing Fauna ’s disco-funk fabulousity, but it somehow seems less interesting. The shock and fresh value seems to have expired after my obsessive gentrification of their 2007 set. With that said, I am still very anxious and excited to listen to their album come October (but really, more like September right?). Listen to the new single below and pre-order the 7″ single nowNew Of Montreal Id Engager listen that includes b-side, “Alter Eagle” and a free digital download.

Radiohead Remixed Myspace, Extend Tour

Radiohead Remixed Myspace, Extend Tour interesting reads

I don’t know if this is a joke or not, but Radiohead announced that the name of their social networking site is W.A.S.T.E. Central. My guess is you can either waste your time, or all you’ll find in it is garbage.

Technically speaking, W.A.S.T.E. Central is your typical Social Networking site, like say Myspace or Facebook, with the “regular features of a social network – a main portal, members/fans own private spaces (profiles), blog and message board features and of course the most important ingredient of a true-blue social networking site, especially geared as a fan base -> facility to upload songs, photos and videos.” Says Rotorblog’s Zafra.

It would be unbelievably stupid for any non-Radiohead fan to join, but if they did, they won’t be missing out on anything any other network offers. But, for hardcore Radiohead fans, W.A.S.T.E., is Mecca. Not only will they get to create their own profile and establish their presence within the realm of the most important rock band on earth, but they get access to Radiohead-related clips, up-to-date band tour listings, and who knows later on, some good old’ Radiohead freebies; I’m thinking In Rainbows: The Sequel, no?

Radiohead – Nude (Holy Fuck Remix)

On a related note, Radiohead have just announced (via W.A.S.T.E., no doubt) Los Angeles (!!!) and San Fransisco dates (among other wonderful cities) to their slowly growing tour.

08/01 – Lollapalooza @ Chicago, IL
08/03 – Verizon Wireless Music Center @ Indianapolis, IN
08/04 – Blossom Music Center @ Cleveland, OH
08/06 – Parc Jean Drapeau @ Montreal, QC
08/08 – All Points West Music & Arts Festival/Liberty State Park @ Jersey City, NJ
08/09 – All Points West Music & Arts Festival/Liberty State Park @ Jersey City, NJ
08/12 – Susquehanna Bank Center @ Camden, NJ
08/13 – Tweeter Center For the Performing Arts @ Mansfield, MA
08/15 – Molson Amphitheatre @ Toronto, ON
08/19 – Thunderbird Stadium @ Vancouver, BC
08/20 – White River Amphitheatre @ Auburn, WA
08/22 – Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival @ Golden Gate Park – San Francisco, CA
08/24 – Hollywood Bowl @ Los Angeles, CA
08/25 – Hollywood Bowl @ Los Angeles, CA
08/27 – Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre @ Chula Vista, CA
08/28 – Santa Barbara Bowl @ Santa Barbara, CA

Here are some live Radiohead gems for you to keep:
Radiohead – Killer Cars (Live acoustic)
Radiohead – Karma Police (Live at Amnesty Int. Festival)
Radiohead – Talk Show Host (Live at Amnesty Int. Festival)
Radiohead – Bodysnatchers (Live at 93 Feet East, London, 16th Jan 2008)
