Rock Band: Beatles AND Guitar Hero: Metallica Information

Rock Band: Beatles AND Guitar Hero: Metallica Information headline shorties

The Beatles have finally caved in, and licensed their music for video game use. Their “Rock Band” edition will be released on 9-9-09. Apparently, this will be an “unprecedented, experiential progression through and celebration of the music and artistry of the Beatles.” That quote makes it sound pretty good! But seriously, I have a hunch that a lot of people would want to play along with the Beatles’ stuff.

There’s a ridiculously lame website for the game HERE, but you can input your e-mail address to receive future information. Click on for info about Guitar Hero’s Metallica edition. Continue reading →

Breaking: MIA’s Baby IS NOT Named Ickitt

Breaking: MIAs Baby IS NOT Named Ickitt headline shorties

Phew! She had me scared for a minute there.

The internet buzzed with laughter and excitement today when reports of M.I.A.’s baby name claimed the boy was named Ickitt. She took to her Myspace just a few hours ago, saying this:

“My baby is not called Ickitt, Pickit or Lickit thank you very much to all the Hollywood press. He’s a baby, he don’t need press!

I didn’t release the baby name because I didn’t think it was news!!!!

But I will be back with something newsworthy soon, till then go pick on Apple, Satchel and Moon Unit.

“Lots of love stickit!!”

She’s funny! Good thing her baby name isn’t (via MTV News).

Eminem Plans To Release TWO Albums in ‘09

Eminem Plans To Release TWO Albums in 09 headline shorties

Eminem’s first album since Encore finally has a release date: Relapse will drop on May 19th.

And in a more surprising announcement, the rapper plans to release Relapse 2 by the end of 2009! This is pretty good news for the rap world. Here’s Eminem’s statement from the press release:

“A lot of people were expecting Relapse to drop last year. I was one of them. Then Dre and I went back in the studio in September for a few days, and that turned into six months. We were on such a roll; we wound up with a ton of new music produced by Dre. Putting out Relapse 2 will let everyone get all of the best stuff.”

Sounds pretty good. Although I’m not the biggest fan of “Crack A Bottle,” I have faith in Slim Shady. Do you?

Updated: Wayne Coyne vs. Arcade Fire

Updated: Wayne Coyne vs. Arcade Fire headline shorties

Please let this not be true. It seems that Flaming Lips frontman Coyne may actually be the prick in this situation, as he has dissed many bands and artists in the past (Arctic Monkeys, Beck, Duffy, and Oasis, to name a few). But he claims that my idols, my music heroes, Arcade Fire, “treat people like s***.” It sounds like Mr. Coyne may be just a tad bit jealous if you read the full quote, which is posted after the jump. Can we trust Coyne’s word? Or is Arcade Fire still the best? Warning: Intense language and Arcade Fire-dissing after the jump.

UPDATE: Win Butler has responded on his blog. Just click on “Win” and “Win’s Scrapbook” HERE. All hope is redeemed- Arcade Fire is the best.

Imagine A “Tron” Sequel Scored By Daft Punk…

Imagine A Tron Sequel Scored By Daft Punk... headline shorties

And now it’s a reality. MOKB let the world know today (initially via Upcoming Film Scores) that DAFT PUNK, the ultimate choice of groups to score Tron 2.0, will be scoring Tron 2.0. Is it early to assume that this score may top A.R. Rahman’s as the best of all time? Just kidding, A.R.- the Slumdog score is not THAT good. But it’s really good.

And as Pitchfork says, Tron 2.0 will only be good if it doesn’t take itself too seriously. And since the writers hail from LOST, I know it will be great.

Also, as P4K says, Daft Punk’s Oscar performances will be the Oscar performance to end all Oscar performances (Even though A.R. Rahman already kind of gave that the other week).

Lil’ Wayne’s “Prom Queen” Music Video: Whoops!

Yikes:

YouTube Preview Image

So this rock album is actually happening? Lil’ Wayne wasn’t just trying to play a brilliant prank on us?

What a terrible video. You know what: I shut it off midway not because of the video itself, but because I couldn’t take the song anymore. And I didn’t feel like muting my computer just to watch Weezy look at a girl’s underwear and run around with a guitar. So goodbye, “Prom Queen” video. I hope I never see you again.

Is this move to rock n’ roll as bad as I think it is for Weezy, or should we cut the guy some slack? Thanks to Videogum for the tip.

Another Charity Album To Be Released with LCD, Decemberists, My Morning Jacket and more

Another Charity Album To Be Released with LCD, Decemberists, My Morning Jacket and more headline shortiesAnother one!

Coming off the respective successes of Causes, Dark Was The Night,  and War Child: Heroes, the Causes founders are releasing a second album in a series that we hope doesn’t need to go on much longer. All proceeds are going towards stopping the terrifying genocide in Darfur.

The lineup for this album is phenomenal, and once again, so is the cause. I urge you to grab this cd if you can, and if you don’t like the artists, I urge you to think about helping out this effort anyway. Click on for the tracklist, which includes The Decemberists, My Morning Jacket, LCD Soundsystem, Tim and Eric, RJD2, and more. Continue reading →

Hmmm…Pitchfork Gives U2 A 4.2

Hmmm...Pitchfork Gives U2 A 4.2 music

Not quite sure what to make of this one.I’m surprised P4K didn’t give them a U.2.

Their critic Ryan Dombal calls No Line On The Horizon a “a defensive gesture, and a rather pitiful one at that.”

U2 has been getting both a lot of love and, well, a lot of more love lately.

What do you guys think? Have you heard No Line On The Horizon yet (if not, it’s streaming on U2’s MySpace)? Does it deserve praise or criticism?

PMA’s review will be up very shortly, probably early in this week.
