Tonight’s LOST Will Be Unbelievably Amazing

Tonights LOST Will Be Unbelievably Amazing tv shows

OK, maybe we shouldn’t set expectations too high (like we did last week). But we probably should. Tonight’s episode, entitled “The Life And Death of Jeremy Bentham,” will finally reveal what the hell happened to Locke from when he pushed the donkey wheel to when he met his apparent death. It should be a contained, epic saga, and a Locke tour-de-force (perhaps another Terry O’Quinn Emmy nom will be in order). Mythological characters we love are all going to pop up. Questions will be answered. And the episode will be extended 6 minutes long, making it even more epic. The producers have said that this episode kind of serves as the finale to the first act of Season Five, and we Lost fans know how well this show ends its “acts.” Click on for some spoilery video clips, and an incredible fan-made video scored to The Killers’ “All These Things That I’ve Done.” Continue reading →

Want Some Real Saturday Night Laughs? Talk To Spike Feresten.

Want Some Real Saturday Night Laughs? Talk To Spike Feresten. tv shows

I’m still an SNL fan. But last week’s particularly unwatchable episode gave me second thoughts. A “Baby Got Back” parody? A terrible cold open? The Cougar Den?

Last week, I watched what should have been a great episode- with ALEC BALDWIN HOSTING- in absolute shock. It was nice to see that the Jonas Brothers had a sense of humor (in the only two decent skits of the night), Samberg’s digital shorts are consistently funny, and Seth Myers’ Weekend Update has been great, but otherwise, the once-promising season is really deteriorating in quality.

So what’s the point of this post, you ask? Just another blogger ranting about how god-awful SNL is? No- as I’ve already said, I’m a long-time SNL fan and defender. I’m just here to recommend you a better Saturday night show- that way, you could just watch SNL’s funny parts on Videogum the next day (besides, tonight’s  SNL is a rerun anyway). And what is this better, bolder, funnier show, you may ask? Did the picture above give it away? Click on for why you should be watching Spike Feresten’s Talkshow. Continue reading →

Did You Catch Conan’s Final (Fantastic) “Late Night”?

Did You Catch Conans Final (Fantastic) Late Night? listen

If you missed it, the highlights are all worth a watch- Will Ferrel’s appearance, Andy Richter’s triumphant return, classic “Late Show” moments, O’Brien’s heartfelt thank yous and The White Stripes’ strange, debated performance.

I say the performance was strange because Jack and Meg played a stripped-down, changed-up version of “We’re  Going To Be Friends,” and I thought it sounded awful. Now I’m a huge Stripes fan, and I understand that part of their charm is Meg’s lacking musical ability and Jack’s unpredictability. But that’s no excuse for the song sounding lousy. At times it was haunting in a good way, yes, mostly due to Jack’s obvious emotion and the connection he has with O’Brien. But for the most part, it was haunting in the bad sense of the word.

I figured the world would agree about this, but apparently not: Stripes fans are defending Jack and Meg on Stereogum’s message board, calling it a great performance. Watch and judge for yourself, letting the world know what YOU think in the comments. Then click here for more highlights from last night’s show. I recommend Ferrel’s hysterical cameo.

Coldplay and Bono Join Brandon Flowers For “All These Things That I’ve Done”

Coldplay and Bono Join Brandon Flowers For All These Things That Ive Done live music

This is one of those crappy Youtube videos that’s just going to make you jealous of people who were actually at this concert, but it’s DEFINITELY worth the post. Three of our generation’s biggest rock stars (all with correspondingly big egos) performed together the other night at a War Child benefit concert, playing arguably the Killers’ best song, “All These Things That I’ve Done.” A high-quality video has yet to surface, so now we’re stuck with 3 or 4 crummy ones on Youtube. Watch the video below (my personal favorite of the crap), and allow Chris Martin, Bono, and Brandon Flowers to make you wish you were at this concert. Oh, and Gary Barlow too. Thanks to twentyfourbit.com for the pic.

Franz Ferdinand Have Fun With An iPod

Franz Ferdinand Have Fun With An iPod music

Dance-rockers Franz Ferdinand have their catchy tune, “No You Girls,” stuck in a lot of heads right now, which is the case with any iPod touch commercial. Being advertised is the “funnest” iPod ever, which is kind of offensive to my very fun 30 gig iPod video, but I digress…

The Franz song is pretty darn good, and the commercial is too (like just about everything Apple puts out). Check it out:

The Thinking Man’s Take On: Super Bowl Ads

Ladies and gentlemen, we live in marvelous times. Starting in October, the American people banded together, they let their voices be heard, and they spoke loud and clear – “we know what we want, and it is like nothing we’ve had before”. No, I’m not talking about Barack O’drama. I’m talking about Snuggies, the blankets with sleeves that make you look like a monk. Or as I like to call them, Slankets. Has a much dirtier ring to it, doesn’t it?

If you’re not already sitting down, you should. Also, if you’re not already sitting down, you’re a weirdo. Who reads blogs standing up? Regardless of your position in the sitting/standing hierarchy, I am about to blow your mind. The American people have spent over $40,000,000 on Slankets this year. 40 million dollars. And if you think that figure – which represents over 4.5 million Slankets sold – isn’t related to advertising, well my friend you are wrong. If I hadn’t seen the Slanket eloquently advertised as a way to “enjoy a snack while staying snuggly warm” (YouTube, 2009, :26) there’s no way I would have bought 10 of them before realizing that – PEOPLE – Slankets are just sweatshirts!

Anyhow, I digress. Continue reading →

Beyonce / Justin Timberlake / Paul Rudd – Perfection

This has to be the most I’ve laughed whilst watching SNL all season. SURE their Election Coverage was giggle-worthy, and yes, Tina Fey and Sarah Palin are twins — but this was hilarious.

I’ve always loved Paul Rudd (seriously, what’s not to love?!) and I’ve always liked Beyonce. Justin Timberlake’s campy performance was just icing on an already delicious cake.

Feist – 1234 (Sesame Street Version)

Feist

Feist is scheduled to appear on Sesame Street’s 39th Season Premier on August 11th and perform a re-worked version of her Grammy Nominated iTunes hit “1234″. The video (below) is pretty hilarious, it’s probably the best video I’ve seen on YouTube in a very long time.

Feist – 1234 (Sesame Street Version)

You know what they say, you’re not somebody until you sing with puppet covered hands on Sesame Street…
