This fiery haired songstress (real name Alison Sudol) is not only gorgeous but also musically and lyrically talented. Her songs sound like what you might hear in a magical forest, played on a mini grand piano by a red-haired fairy…and they’ll put you in A Fine Frenzy!

I love the lyrics of the chorus:

“Like an apple on a tree
Hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
But you picked me
Like a shell upon a beach
Just another pretty piece
I was difficult to see
But you picked me
Yeah you picked me”

A video of Alison Sudol playing “Almost Lover” on Vh1:

Is it just me, or does it sound a bit like James Blunt’s “Goodbye My Lover” in certain parts?
She rather reminds me of a morose Sara Bareilles:

I came across Sara Bareilles when “Love Song” was the Itunes Free song of the week (it’s free! You know I’m all over that). You know when you hear a song and in the first 10 seconds you know you’ll like it? That’s how I felt about “Love Song.” This song was on repeat on my ipod for quite a while.

A video of Sara singing “Love Song” live:

And just since I seem to be on a roll with female singer/songwriters today, a little pensive KT Tunstall song to end the day…

“False Alarm” was one of my favorites off her first album. For KT Tunstall fans, her sophomore album “Drastic Fantastic” (haha, I love the title) just came out this past September!
