Annie – I Don’t Like Your Band

Annie I Dont Like Your Band listen
Annie is back! The Norwegian electropop star’s newest album Don’t Stop was finally released to the U.S on November 17th, after a label change, edits to the track listing, and more than two years of anticipation after the album was originally announced.

“I Don’t Like Your Band,” the fifth song on the new album, is typical of Annie’s synth/electropop style. It takes vocal influence from Madonna while sticking to the hard-hitting digital sound of the 80’s synth revolution, producing a pop sound that explodes out of the speakers.

The song puts down someone else’s band, and you can’t help but feel bad for them because they are probably walking around humming Annie’s tune to themselves without knowing it’s about them. And to be honest, they really shouldn’t care. If they can’t make a good song, at least they can serve as inspiration for one.

Check it out, but take note of the disclaimer: it will be stuck in your head. Continue reading →

Remix-A-Day: Britney Spears – If U Seek Amy (Crookers Remix)

Because we are focusing more on upcoming musical releases around here, new remixes get the short end of the PMA stick, sadly. I am determined to devote one post a day on new remixes, instead of bunching 10+ remixes in bulk. That has become somewhat tacky. Click here to read all of our Remix-A-Day remixes.

Remix A Day: Britney Spears If U Seek Amy (Crookers Remix) mp3Giving it up to Britney Spears’ label for getting some of the buzziest producers/DJs to remix her tracks! First she had Justice remix her collab with Madonna, “Me Against The Music,” and more recently, Villains and Diplo both remixed the hell out of “Circus.” Add Crookers to the list and their remix of Britney’s “If U Seek Amy.” To be honest, it’s sort of a hot mess. I think Stoney Roads puts it best: “I’m kinda digging it, think people have to remember its a fun track for fun people. Most Likely your drunk and off your face when you hear it and to be honest… it sounds like the best thing you have heard in your life!” Seriously, just wait till you hear it in da club.

Download it + other girl remixes after the jump Continue reading →

Blog Wars: The Genius Playlist | Round 2, Battle 1

On the last battle of Round 1, Music Is Art took PMA on. They were a worthy adversary — one that almost got us beat! But in the end, PMA won with 51% of the votes (by the smallest margin yet!). Now, now, I won’t say much because I’m sure plenty of people are ready to tell me that PMA won because of the “homefield advantage.” Maybe so, eh?

But what’s done is done so let’s move one the the Second Round of this Blog War! To remind you all, the blogs that made it were: Sheena Beaston, We All Want Someone, Nialler9, The Culture of Me, and Pretty Much Amazing. Because Sheena Beaston beat Pigeons and Planes by the biggest margin (26%), she get’s a freebie this round and is automatically placed in the finals. The last battle will be a Winner-Takes-All style threesome — the winner will be our Blog Champion.

Also trying to secure a spot in the finals are Nialler9 and The Culture of Me who are both in this rumble, fighting to the tune of “Voyager” by Daft Punk. A classic, indeed. Enough talk, let’s bring the Genius Playlists out. Continue reading →
