Just Wondering

Also, someone stole my laptop on a trip (along with my iPod, clothes, shoes and other personal items), so boo on you whoever did that. While I do have a backup laptop, it’s not entirely equipped for the job. So we’ll see how that affects posting.

Oh and it seems that this last weekend was particularly busy in terms of new music poppin’ up. So I am going to have to get cracking on those all morning. For now, here are a handful of tunes I have been planning on sharing. But because I’m so behind (and particularly busy in my personal life), I’m just going to give them all to you now. Radiohead opens up this week’s podcast with a double introduction. Three Leaves and a Head’s remix of “Reckoner” is a marvelous set of lulling, dramatic pianos and snaps. It leads in stealthily to In Rainbows‘ crackling and GRAMMY-famous “15 Step.” Regina Spektor follows Radiohead with an early demo of the beautiful “Samson.” This song is easily my favorite song off her album, Begin To Hope. From an established pop elite to a poppy act that has plenty of potential, I proudly play Asteroid Galaxy Tour’s “Around The Bend.”

If you listen closely, you’ll notice that this episode’s title is derived from “Around The Bend.” It’s just a great song. From here on, things get a bit heavier, you’ll notice I continue/close the pmaCAST with a handful of remixes. This podcast couldn’t be possible without RCRD LBL and Notes From A Different Kitchen who so graciously provided us with tracks that were vital to this podcast.

Album Updates Beastie Boys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, James Taylor, and Team B interesting reads

Let’s start off with the Beastie Boys. The boys are finishing up their 8th studio album, and its apparently shaping up to be a “pretty weird” one, says lead rapper Adam Yauch. Far from their all-instrumental album The Mix-Up, this one includes “a lot of rhyming and playing and sampling — all combined.” It should be pretty cool…thanks to Entertainment Weekly for the heads-up.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ new album was prematurely evaluated over at Stereogum, and they seem to like it. A lot. Judging from the first two singles, I think PMA is going to like it, too.

James Taylor is working on another covers album, coming out April 7th, called Other Covers. Good title! It’ll have seven more covers from his original studio session, including “Oh, What A Beautiful Morning,” along with Chuck Berry’s “Memphis. His last Covers album was pretty well-received. (Via MOG).

Team B, a band formed of members from Beirut, Arcade Fire, and LCD Soundsystem (woah) is streaming their new album on MySpace…I haven’t taken a listen yet, but Beirut, Arcade Fire, and LCD Soundsystem? It should be pretty good. Thanks to Tiny Mix Tapes.
