Big Boi – Shine Blockas (ft. Gucci Mane)

Big Boi Shine Blockas (ft. Gucci Mane) listen

Just as it’s big cousin “Int’l Players Anthem” did so well not but two years ago, Big Boi’s Hail Mary, fourth-quarter whopper “Shine Blockas” has arrived not a moment too soon, hell-bent on royally fucking up your 2009 best-of list. – Pitchfork

And royally fucked up my 2009 best-of list, it did. I believe there isn’t much to say about “Shine Blockas,” except maybe, “thank you Big Boi for giving me everything I ever wanted in a rap song.”

Big Boi has proven to be one of the most prolific MCs I’ve ever come across. Taking a break from his partner in crime, Andre 3000, Big Boi plans on releasing his debut album, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty… eventually. But for now, listen “Shine,” it’s a killer. Continue reading →

Big Boi – Ringtone

Big Boi Ringtone listen

I love Outkast. I first fell in love with them when I heard Stankonia. At the time, Stank was the first bit of Outkast I’d ever heard, but now that I think about it, it is rate for an established, respected, and indeed, trill group like Outkast to release an album so bold, so confrontation, and yes, “So Fresh, So Clean,” simply because they have so much to lose. Since Stankonia, I’ve been a hardcore Outkast fanboy, and even though they go astray sometimes (Idlewild).

As a fan, I am keen on following their solo efforts. In this case, Big Boi’s forthcoming Sir Luscious Leftfoot (which may top Beyonce/Sasha Fierce for the best album named after an alter-ego). While we’ve been listening to tracks off the album for quite a while, a new song leaked yesterday. “Ringtone” is… interesting. I like it, I do. It’s just a tough listen at first. Very, made for radio. The vocoder isn’t as annoying as it could have been — I give it that. I expected more from half of Outkast. But it’s okay though, Andre 3000 has always been my favorite of the two.

Oh, and I also have good news: 2009 will welcome, not only a new Big Boi album, but also new Andre 3k AND Outkast albums. Fuck yes. Preview “Ringtone” below: Continue reading →

New Big Boi – Dubbz

New Big Boi Dubbz listen
On this third sneak peek at his next solo effort, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, Big Boi teamed up with Backbone to rap about the material wonders in life. This topic isn’t anything new in the game of rap music, but this particular song really leaves you in awe. Both MCs handle this somewhat idiosyncratic beat extremely well and does nothing but affirm Big Boi’s role as a hard-hitter in hip-hop. Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty is scheduled for a late October release.

New MP3s: Outkast, Raconteurs, Chemical Bros., Cut Copy

Outkast

“Royal Flush” is actually the first single off Big Boi’s new album Sir Lucious Left Foot, the track features verses spat by Andre 3000 and Raekwon.

Big Boi – Royal Flush MP3

Unfortuneatly, this song has nothing on the previous Big Boi-Andre 3000 track to surface on these interwebs. “The Art of Storytelling Pt. 4″ definitely shook things up and copped up what we’ve been accustomed to expect from Outkast. “Royal Flush” seems a little… lackluster, lukewarm… boring?

Here’s the first single from the new Raconteurs album, Consolers of the Lonely, which is being released on Tuesday via Warner Bros.

Next up is a new track from Cut Copy. This aussie band has been making some noise, especially with their buzzworthy first single “Lights and Music”, and “Far Away” should keep American fans happy until the April release date of their album In Ghost Colors.

Thanks to Critical Acclaim for this next one. “Keep My Composure” is what happens when Chemical Brothers and Spank Rock work together. Only found in the Hereos Sountrack sold exclusively at Best Buy.
