2007 Video Music Awards

The 2007 MTV Video Music Awards are heading to Las Vegas in September

Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé lead the pack of nominees for the 24th annual VMAs, each with a whopping seven nods, followed closely by Kanye West and Rihanna with five and newcomer Amy Winehouse with three.

The awards will be coming to you live from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on September 9 at 9 p.m. ET, with MTV News’ preshow beginning at 8 p.m.

Timberlake, West, Rihanna and Winehouse will also perform at the event, along with a full house of kings and queens that includes Timbaland, Fall Out Boy, Chris Brown, Lily Allen and the Foo Fighters performing with special guests live from the Palms Fantasy Suites. Timbaland will also be serving as the evening’s musical maestro, with superstar DJ Mark Ronson on the decks.

Now this is what I’m talking about, a couple of days ago a lowish quality radio rip of “So Small” surfaced and I have to admit I was quite thrilled. The subtle mellowness of this track is as captivating as its lyrics. One reader mentioned that he couldn’t take anymore “cheerleading” from motivationalistic country artists. I would have to agree that the empowering-song niche has spread wide especially in Country Music. Is it Carrie Underwood’s fault she can flaunt out her motivational pom pom’s like there’s no tomorrow? No way!

Underwood on her new track:

” ‘So Small’ is a feeling song on how people invest so much of their time and energy into things that aren’t really important, and you don’t really realize that until it’s too late. We’re all guilty of it, as I know I am, of just letting silly things get in the way. The smallest thing can almost ruin my day, and at some point, I realize, ‘Good gracious, Carrie! What are you doing?’ I have a great life, and we need to remember the things that are truly important.”
