Designer Drugs are back from their set of shows overseas and are back with this bouncy remix of N.A.S.A.’s “Strange Enough” featuring vocals by Karen O. (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Ol Dirty Bastard, and Fatlip.
Because we are focusing more on upcoming musical releases around here, new remixes get the short end of the PMA stick, sadly. Giving it up to Britney Spears’ label for getting some of the buzziest producers/DJs to remix her tracks! First she had Justice remix her collab with Madonna, “Me Against The Music,” and more recently, Villains and Diplo both remixed the hell out of “Circus.” Add Crookers to the list and their remix of Britney’s “If U Seek Amy.” To be honest, it’s sort of a hot mess. I think Stoney Roads puts it best: “I’m kinda digging it, think people have to remember its a fun track for fun people. Most Likely your drunk and off your face when you hear it and to be honest… it sounds like the best thing you have heard in your life!” Seriously, just wait till you hear it in da club.

A couple of months ago, I introduced you guys to Tigersapien, and everyone seemed to dig these guys. For good reason, too. These New York and Philly natives have created what sounds like a kick-ass DJ in band form. They have efficiently meshed electro and rock together in a way MSTRKRFT fails to do. They really are a rock band with a sweet tooth for electro, and they do a fantastic job of satisfying our sweet tooth no nonsense, sweaty music.

We all know everyone loved “Stuck On Repeat” — don’t lie! You know you did! After that, whatever sparing Little Boots remix we could find had to keep us over until “Meddle” fell on our laps a couple of months ago. That song definitely brought it. Now it was Designer Drugs’ (who I’m quickly falling in love with) turn to bring it!

Designer Drugs recently entered in a remix contest for Mariah Carey’s floptastic new single “I’ll Be Loving U Long Time.” Sadly, the didn’t win. Though they did get an honorable mention. I’m not exactly sure what the judges were smoking, because this remix is hot. Fire all over.
