pmaCAST #20: There’s Something Living In These Lines

pmaCAST #20: Theres Something Living In These Lines musicI watched Gigantic for the first time tonight. It was an odd movie, for sure, but I was delighted to see the movie’s last few seconds scored by Animal Collective’s “Did You See The Words?”

It was the perfect odd-ball song to close an odd-ball film. What was better yet was the music binge I went on right after the credits closed. These songs are what make up this twentieth episode of the pmaCAST. Hopefully you’ll find the track list fitting of this milestone episode.

Diamond Rings – All Yr Songs

Diamond Rings All Yr Songs listen[photo]

John O’Regan, of The Durbervilles, has really succeeded with his side project Diamond Rings. “All Yr Songs” has Spoon-like music backing John’s calm yet self-conscious vocals. The song is not too pop that it should not be taken seriously, but the “oohs” and “ahhs” are delivered so perfectly that this song is hard to stop listening too.

I was not at all surprised when I saw that TV On The Radio and Kanye West grace John’s list of influences. With a little bit more work he could have a nice combination of Kanye’s production with TV On The Radio’s flat out awesomeness. If the song is not what you expect at first, keep listening and give it a chance. I highly recommend it.
