Saturday Nite Party Music Planner 2.28.09

Saturday Nite Party Music Planner 2.28.09 mp3

Ha… yeah, that’s a Cobra Snake pic on PMA. **Cherry Popping Sound**

I’ve been ignoring posting most remixes in favor of artists who demand more hype than they’ve been getting, and I will continue to do so, but I thought that now that it’s officially the weekend and that most of you are heading out to some party soon, you might want to grab a few of these. Oh and I understand that it’s already past 9pm on the EAST COAST! My bad! I will make sure to post the next Saturday Night Party Music Planner a bit earlier!

Anyway, let’s start off with an incredible remix of Eminem’s infuriatingly catchy “Crack A Bottle,” yeah? Cool… Continue reading →

Animal Collective – My Girls (Gigamesh ‘Proper House’ Remix) PMA Premiere

Animal Collective My Girls (Gigamesh Proper House Remix) PMA Premiere mp3

Gigamesh sent this one over last night. Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion may as well be the best album of 2009, and “My Girls” is currently sitting at everyone’s top stop for the best song of 2009. It’s always hard to accept a remix of a song this good. When the buzz around “My Girls” was still fresh, a few good remixes popped up and everyone ate it up, but as time passed, it’s become difficult to listen to someone else’s interpretation of Animal Collective’s vision and direction in “My Girls.” Gigamesh’s ‘Proper House’ remix did a great, great job of adding some smooth, danceable beats to “My Girls” without wiping the substance from it. Grab it below: Continue reading →

Q&A Friday: Is It Too Early To Talk About Music Festivals?

Q&A Friday: Is It Too Early To Talk About Music Festivals? mp3

So this week’s question is an easy one: Are you going to Coachella? Or are you saving your money for another festival? I also know that this passed year hasn’t been all too nice to anyone’s wallet. Hopefully I can help out.

This week’s Q&A is sponsored by the Lagerado Music Festival. They are being really cool and giving PMA Two (2) tickets to giveaway to one lucky winner. That’s right, you get to go to Langerado for FREE. All you have to do is get yourself there, get a hotel, buy your booz and drugs and enjoy the cool lineup (Death Cab For Cutie, Snoop Dogg, The Faint, Ryan Adams, Broken Social Scene, Cold War Kids, Chromeo, Girl Talk, Black Kids, The Virgins, Tokyo Police Club, Ra Ra Riot, ah, just check the whole lineup here), oh and you have to answer the question! Some Remixes on a Sunday #2

Some Remixes on a Sunday #2 mp3

Continuing this from last Sunday.

Listen up. I’ve got a whole lotta new shizz for you and your granny. No, I really do. I’m just completely swamped. If I had a bit more time this week, almost every single one of these remixes would have seen its own post. But, alas, life doesn’t work out that way. Maybe some of you can help me?

Beyond normal life stuff, I have been pretty busy watching movies. Award season is upon us and I am still severely behind. While most of the theaters around here are playing what I want to see, I am having scheduling issues. My big priorities this week are: Rachel Getting Married, The Wrestler, and Gran Torino. I say that in confidence because I already wasted this weekend watching some pretty shitty guilty pleasure movies.

Yes. I watched Bride Wars and The Unborn this weekend, instead of catching up on films I know I would enjoy. Bride Wars wasn’t too bad — I didn’t expect much in the first place, but The Unborn was just insulting. Hopefully now I’ve had my fill of cheap Hollywood escapism. I need to focus on cheap-yet-affluent escapist movies now. But before I throw away $100 this week in movies (and movie-related expenses), have any of you seen Rachel Getting Married, The Wrestler, or Gran Torino? Are either of those films that I may not need to watch at the theater? Would the comfort of my own home suffice? Can you point me in the right direction of the torrent?

Damn, and I still have to watch The Reader, I’ve Loved You So Long, Frost/Nixon, Defiance, Che, and Good.

Now, my mom raised me right. I won’t ask for something without giving you another something in return. Here are 10 Remixes. But before you listen… isn’t that a cool pic up there?

Kings Of Leon – Use Somebody (Dolby Anol Remix)

I’m not going to comment on every remix, but this first one is just splendid. I can’t begin to tell you how much I like this one. Great use of this particularly great KOL track. Continue reading →

New T.I. – Whatever You Like (DiscoTech remix)

New T.I. Whatever You Like (DiscoTech remix) mp3 2008 has been a great year for hip-hop music, and T.I. is the third and fourth quarter’s Lil Wayne. His mega-massive sung-only hit, “Whatever You Like” is atop the single’s charts in the US and his other #1 single, “Live Your Life” is sitting at #2. That’s something Lil Wayne has yet to accomplish.

Lil Wayne didn’t have another song on Tha Carter III that could possibly match “Lollipop”’s marketability. T.I., however, has at least another song that can definitely hit the number one spot — his collabortive effort with Justin Timberlake, “Dead And Gone.”

Then again, T.I.’s Paper Trail didn’t sell over a million copies in its first week.

I’m not sure why I’m comparing T.I.’s success to Lil Wayne’s, when Kanye West’s album is about to drop.

I’m confusing myself. Just grab this remix — it’s a change from DiscoTech’s usual stuff, but its definitely not a bad thing. Download it below Continue reading →
