Props Mad Decent for letting me know about this one. Props to Phaseone for the remix. This is fantastic.

Only one word can accurately describe what Manchester’s Run Toto Run have done with Passion Pit’s “Sleepyhead.” It’s completely gorgeous. Gone is Michael Angelakos’ signature helium falsetto. It has been replaced with the buttery smooth hymnal purr of frontwoman, Rachael Kichenside. The synths were swapped for an inspired violin arrangement and utterly fantastic guitar work.

I hinted to this via Twitter yesterday afternoon! I kept my mouth shut, but here it is — a new Chiddy Bang track! Cue roaring applause. This new song the boys hit me up with is called “Truth” and its one step closer to that as-of-yet untitled summer mixtape Chiddy Bang promised us. “Truth” stays true to the Chiddy Bang new school sample form and tackles one of my favorite Passion Pit songs, “Better Things” off the Chunk of Change EP. And you know what? The electronic reworks on this track are outstanding. You will find yourself bobbing along to this within a few seconds, trust me.
I haven’t had this much fun with samples since I first heard A Kid Named Cudi and fell in love “CuDi Spazzin’,” sampling N.E.R.D., “Maui Wowie” sampling Grind Mode and “The Prayer,” sampling the fantastic Band of Horses. Subsequently, I have fallen in love with Chiddy Bang’s unforgettable “Kids” sampling MGMT, “Fresh Like Us” sampling Yelle, and now “Truth.” As many of you already know, Chiddy Bang are down right a hipster wet dream. You can count on hearing “Kids” and “Truth” all summer long.

My favorite femme parisienne, Yelle, (also known as Julie Budet) is part of iTunes’ inspired Foreign Exchange series. iTunes commissioned Yelle and Robyn to do each other for the world to enjoy. First up is Yelle covering Robyn’s “Who’s That Girl,” or “Qui Est Cette Fille.” My French is a little rusty, but as far as I can tell, Yelle’s version is exceptionally great. She made Robyn and her fans proud.
