New The Killers – Neon Tiger

New The Killers Neon Tiger listen

The Killers unleashed the “Neon Tiger” live first, a long with “Spaceman,” on a couple of their shows. Videos of the performances were quickly filed as “Must Watch” — and the hype for the Day & Age officially began. Now, I’ve got my hands on the mp3. It sounds good, thankfully. The album is shaping up to be pretty impressive.

New The Killers – Spaceman (’Day & Age’ Version)

New The Killers Spaceman (Day & Age Version) listen

I posted an mp3 rip of The Killers performing “Spaceman” on SNL a while back, but the final album version of the song has finally leaked.

“Spaceman” is the second worthy (”high-quality”) sample of the magic to emerge from a Killers and Stuart Price collaborative album. Much like Day & Age’s first single, “Human,” the new song finds itself between time, lost where the Hot Fuss and Sam’s Town eras meet.

If you thought “Human”’s lyrics were intriguingly confusing, you haven’t heard anything yet. Brandon Flowers takes you through some alien abuction/dissection.

It started with a low light
Next thing I knew they ripped me from my bed
And then they took my blood type
They left a strange impression in my head
You know that I was hoping
That I could leave this star-crossed world behind
But when they cut me open
I guess I changed my mind (…)
The storm maker says it ain’t so bad
The dream maker’s gonna make you mad
The spaceman says, “Everybody look down
It’s all in your mind”

Well, now I’m back at home and
I’m looking forward to this life I live
You know it’s gonna haunt me
So hesitation to this life I give
You think you might cross over
You’re caught between the devil and the deep blue sea
You better look it over
Before you make that leap

Digest that. “Human” left me hungry for more, in a negative sort of way, but “Spaceman” keeps me completely satisfied yet, I’m dying to listen to the rest of the album. This is what the Killers are all about.

5 Reasons Why the Killers’ Human Music Video Doesn’t Suck

5 Reasons Why the Killers Human Music Video Doesnt Suck mp3Remember when Killers’ music videos weren’t utterly underwhelming? I miss the thematic tie-ins and cultural references “Mr. Brightside” and “When You Were Young” had. And what about that homoerotic scene when that weird guy in that green fish suit goes to bed with one of the Killers, like in “Read My Mind”?

I’m a devout Killers fan, but this just won’t do. I’m sure this video will be considered a classic in 20 years (around the same time people will start appreciating Sam’s Town) — but until then, it’s just Brendon Flowers singing into a boring ole mic, right?

Maybe I’m having some sort of love affair with lists, but I’ve come up with 5 Reasons why the Killers’ new music video for “Human” doesn’t suck. The complete list and the music video along with some mp3s after the jump Continue reading →

New The Killers Spaceman (SNL Version) listen
Last weekend, The Killers performed their phenomenal first single “Human” as well as perform “Spaceman,” another track off the forthcoming Day & Age. For Killers fans who have been watch old, crappy “Sappaceman” videos waiting for an MP3, wait no longer — thankfully the SNL performance was of rippable quality.
