2007 might just be my favorite year for music releases this decade. Unfortunately, many, many great albums were left out of this list. It was pretty hard leave them out, but I couldn’t press the little blue “Publish” button without any of the following albums on the list:

A. LCD Soundsystem – Sound of Silver
B. Radiohead – In Rainbows
C. Arcade Fire – Neon Bible
D. Spoon – Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
E. M.I.A. – Kala
F. Panda Bear – Person Pitch
G. Animal Collective – Strawberry Jam
H. of Montreal – Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
I. Kanye West – Graduation
J. Amy Winehouse – Back To Black

Lil Wayne ‘No Ceilings’ Mixtape – Free Download [OFFICIAL VERSION]

Lil Wayne No Ceilings Mixtape Free Download [OFFICIAL VERSION] listenLil Wayne might be heading to jail, but that won’t stop him from spewing out monster mixtapes. I’m thinking this will be one of the last proper mixtapes we’re getting from Weezy in a while, so make sure you grab it. No Ceilings features recycled beats by Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, and even Lady GaGa/Kid Cudi/Kanye West. Major props to HustleGRL for the mad artwork for No Ceilings.

UPDATE: 2dopeboyz says: here is the official version of No Ceilings, featuring four new joints and an overall higher sound quality.

UPDATE2: No official tracklist (order wise) yet. smh… I swear this tape has been such a hassle haha! Tomorrow, the FINAL one will be available. Until then, just enjoy the music haha.

Lady GaGa’s The Monster Ball Tour w/ Kid Cudi!

So her tour with Kanye West was canceled, but ccording to GaGa Daily, Lady GaGa is ready to hit the road without Kanye… instead hitting up Kid Cudi to join her on stage:

Says Lady Gaga, “The Haus of Gaga had been designing ‘The Monster Ball’ for premiere in 2010 at the O2 Arena in London, but due to diligent work and preparation, ‘The Monster Ball’ will begin on November 27 in Montreal. ‘The Monster Ball’ is a multimedia artistic experience in the style of the first-ever pop electro opera.”

Lady Gaga will release a re-package of her breakthrough album, The Fame, called The Fame Monster, earlier that week, on November 23. The re-package will include eight brand new songs, including the club-banging first single “Bad Romance.” Continues Lady Gaga, “A message to all my little monsters: The Fame Monster will come out four days before the first live show. You have exactly 96 hours to learn all of the lyrics so you can sing along. Dress accordingly.”

Best Album of 2004 Poll

Best Albums of 00 | 01 | 02 | 03 | 04 | 05 | 06 | 07 | 08 | 09

We’re finally closing the first half of the decade. So far, we’ve had to make some obvious, almost obligatory choices… as well as some that you may not have expected. Either way, Jeff and I are still relying on your votes and comments, and we thank you for sticking with us this long.

2004 was a crazy year for music. So crazy that I had to take an extra day to finalize this list. There was Kanye West’s debut album, arguably my personal favorite hip hop album ever. Arcade Fire also brought their Funeral that year too (and as you might know, that has been my favorite album of the last 10 years). Brian Wilson chose to finally release his SMiLE, 37 years in the making. I won’t go on… but hopefully you get the point.

As always, I looked through various year-end lists published by some of our favorite publications. The shortlist was created by looking through year-end lists by the Villiage Voice’s Pazz & Jop Poll, Pitchfork, Tiny Mix Tapes, Drowned By Sound, Stylus and PopMatters.

A. Kanye West: The College Dropout
B. Arcade Fire: Funeral
C. Animal Collective: Sung Tongs
D. Brian Wilson: SMiLE
E. Madvillian: Madvilliany
F. Franz Ferdinand: Franz Ferdinand
G. The Streets: A Grand Don’t Come For Free
H. Elliott Smith: From A Basement On The Hill
I. Modest Mouse: Good News For People Who Love Bad News
J. TV On The Radio: Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes

Fame Kills: Starring Kanye West and Lady GaGa | Tour Dates

The only two artists that made this year’s VMAs interesting have banded together (after much hearsay and speculation) to give us this winter’s hottest tour. Kanye West’s Glow In The Dark Tour (w/ Rihanna, N.E.R.D., Lupe Fiasco, Nas) was immense and I can only imagine the insanity that Lady GaGa will bring to the stage (fire-breathing boobs? blood?).

Tickets will be sold through LiveNation beginning on September 25th in select markets. A few presales are going on too, but you either have to have a paid membership to the Fame Kills Tour Fan Club, or be a Citi cardholder. You can read all about that here. Just go on and look at the tour dates. Will you be attending?

Honestly, I didn’t expect anything this fresh from Kid CuDi. Personal expectations for his debut Man On The Moon: The End Of Day were low. I wrote him off as just another blog fad, riding the electro wave to its crash with the Crookers remix of megahit ‘Day N Nite’, and overshadowed by a star-studded guest list and production on ‘Make Her Say’ without proving anything about his own artistic merit – of which I believed he had none. His flow was too awkward, too much of a pale imitation of his producer and mentor, Kanye West (and we all know by now the world only needs one Kanye West). But after giving the album a solid listen and more, the music has spoken and I’ve had a change of heart: CuDi is for real. Continue reading →
