Harlem Shakes released one of my favorite albums of the year, as well as one of my favorite songs of the year (”Sunlight”), but their first single, “Strictly Game” is great too. So great, in fact, that they even commissioned our friends, Kids At The Bar to remix it.

The remix is ravages the vocal loop and slaps a sizzling bassline that, with the right equipment, will shake your soul. The remix runs a few seconds shorter than the original, but in those four minutes, it holds your attention ransom and demands your body to move.

Hopefully you are all pumped for the 5/20 (TOMORROW!!) release of Remix After All, the blog-commissioned remix collective tribute to Daft Punk’s iconic Human After All (albeit not as iconic as Discovery, am I right?). As you know, 10 premiere music blogs with a taste for dance music have bound together with 10 up-and-coming remixers, each pairing paying tribute to one of the ten tracks found in Human After All.

Being a huge advocate in the art of the tease, you can now listen to a sneak peak into PMA’s commissioned remix. Though the MP3 is but lowly 128kbps file, you will have to wait until tomorrow to get the track in its holy 320kbps glory. I was trusted to find myself a hot remix for Daft Punk’s beloved “Technologic,” doing so was pretty easy. I’ve had my eyes on a duo from Oaklahoma that play by the name KIDS AT THE BAR. I broke their great “Sleepyhead” remix in to the PMA audience a couple of months ago, to great results. Aside from Passion Pit, KATB are also credited for Empire of the Sun, Trash Yourself, and datA remixes. They can now but dance gods Daft Punk on that list.

Kids At The Bar is the collaborative product of DJ/Producer Rad and in-studio whiz kid Matt Buckley. These Kids are fairly new to the game but have DJed with the likes od Toxic Avenger, Franki Chan, Trash Yourself!, Klever, The Glamour, and Paparazzi. They have also already remixed some very interesting artists including Trash Yourself!, Data, and one of our favorite new artists, Passion Pit.

What I like best of Kids At The Bar is the no bullshit attitude you get from their mixes. They are obviously rock ‘n roll kids with a passion for electro/dance music — this is the kind of stuff the dance scene needs to shake things up! Continue reading →
