Music From Gossip Girl: Season 3, Episode 10

Music From Gossip Girl: Season 3, Episode 10 listenLady GaGa on Gossip Girl
Last night’s episode of Gossip Girl featured a lot of Lady Gaga (and even a performance by GaGa). So much that it was almost ridiculous. This GaGa injection was, no doubt, in promotion of Lady GaGa’s upcoming album The Fame Monster.

The episode prominently featured Monster “Bad Romance” and “Made in the Dark” — in fact, after Lady GaGa’s performance of “Bad Romance” on Gossip Girl, the song has climbed to the No. 1 stop on iTunes. But the standout GaGa track featured on Gossip Girl had to be that fierce Beyonce and Lady GaGa collaboration. Continue reading →

Lady GaGa – Bad Romance (Hercules and Love Affair Remix)

Lady GaGa Bad Romance (Hercules and Love Affair Remix) listenYes, this happened.

I’m confused as to why this isn’t better than it is? Hercules and Love Affair was one of our favorite albums of 2008, if not our favorite. And “Bad Romance” is one of the better pop songs to be released this year. This should have been a match made in heaven. Instead, it sounds kind of awkward and mismatched.

I think maybe a funky 70s bass guitar loop like the one found on “Hercules Theme” would suit the remix better. Throw in the rumbling, rolling percussion of “Athene” and maybe slowed the vocal track a bit and we’d have a winning, throwback Hercules and Love Affair remix of “Bad Romance”, instead we have a half-baked one, or the ones that you can tell were only made to pay the bills. Lady GaGa – Bad Romance (Music Video)

What can I say about this music video? You look at this or this, or even this… and you wonder how these women even compare to this.

Eric Cartman feat. Kenny & Kyle – Poker Face (Lady GaGa Cover)

This is the truth. The hilariously and wildly entertaining truth.

“I don’t give a crap about whales so go and hug a tree (I love it)”

Lady GaGa – Dance In The Dark, New Album

Lady GaGa Dance In The Dark, New Album listenSpeakers opens to distortion, faceless moans and the words “silicone, saline, poison, inject me baby. I’m a free bitch, I’m a free bitch”. This is how Lady GaGa kicks off her most intricate and engaging song yet.

The tremendous chorus, “baby loves to dance in the dark, cos when he’s looking she falls apart” is heartbreaking and is empowered by a later lyric, “she looks good, but her boyfriend says she’s a tramp.”

“Dance In The Dark” has a fragile quality to it. The luminous synth feels strained, yet the vocal track resolute. The song’s sincere-sounding back story of the marginalization of women and potentially abusive relationships is a surprising change of pace for Lady GaGa, who has made a career out of sensationalizing fame and sex.  Continue reading →

Lil Wayne ‘No Ceilings’ Mixtape – Free Download [OFFICIAL VERSION]

Lil Wayne No Ceilings Mixtape Free Download [OFFICIAL VERSION] listenLil Wayne might be heading to jail, but that won’t stop him from spewing out monster mixtapes. I’m thinking this will be one of the last proper mixtapes we’re getting from Weezy in a while, so make sure you grab it. No Ceilings features recycled beats by Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, and even Lady GaGa/Kid Cudi/Kanye West. Major props to HustleGRL for the mad artwork for No Ceilings.

UPDATE: 2dopeboyz says: here is the official version of No Ceilings, featuring four new joints and an overall higher sound quality.

UPDATE2: No official tracklist (order wise) yet. smh… I swear this tape has been such a hassle haha! Tomorrow, the FINAL one will be available. Until then, just enjoy the music haha.

Adam Lambert – For Your Entertainment

Adam Lambert For Your Entertainment listen

Atrocious album cover aside (why couldn’t he just gone with the single cover pictured above?), Adam Lambert still stands as one of the most talented people to ever walk off the American Idol stage.

His whole Sasha Fierce meets Lady GaGa meets post-Chris-Brown Rihanna look really irks me, but his album’s first single and titular track, “For Your Entertainment” has hit potential. It sounds like Queen, it sounds like Bowie, it sounds like Goldfrapp — a male Lady GaGa without the killer hooks.

The hook on “For Your Entertainment” is fine, but nothing that will stand out or keep it relevant for more than 2-3 months. After listening to it a few times (in not-so-great quality), I’ll admit that it’s a decent tune. I think it’s about time American Idol fashioned out an electro-pop star. Listen to it here: Continue reading →

Lady GaGa – Bad Romance

Lady GaGa Bad Romance listen

After a demo or two leaking, the first single off Lady GaGa’s The Fame: Monster has finally arrived. “Bad Romance” made its world premiere on BBC Radio 1 just a few hours ago. Luckily we have a high quality mp3 now.

Lady GaGa continues to impress me despite adopting faux accents on her new material. Where “Alejandro” saw a GaGa with a soft Spanish accent, you can hear a slight French accent on “Bad Romance.” In fact, a few lines of the song are actually sung in French.

“Bad Romance” also has a horror side. It’s subtle, but I can already see a “Disturbia”-esque music video in the works. Listen to the new single below: Continue reading →

Lady GaGa – Alejandro

Lady GaGa Alejandro listenOn “Alejandro,” Lady GaGa finds herself in a toxic love square with a boy named, well, Alejandro… as well as Fernando and Roberto — but mostly Alejandro, as his name graces the annoyingly catchy “Ale-Ale-jandro” hook.

A few seconds into the track, it becomes quite apparent that Lady GaGa is channeling herself some “La Isla Bonita.” In fact, the similarity between the two tracks is almost as obvious as Madonna’s “Revolver” to Britney’s “Radar.”

Giving a graceful tip of the hat to career idols isn’t anything knew, and right now, it is not unwelcome. I, for one, don’t mind an “La Isla Bonita” 2009. And this might be a bold statement, but club-bangers aside, “Alejandro” easily trumps most of Lady GaGa’s senseless fluff numbers on The Fame. Listen to the new track after the jump.
