SOTD: Them Crooked Vultures – No One Loves Me & Neither Do I

SOTD: Them Crooked Vultures No One Loves Me & Neither Do I listen
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been building up a “Song of the Day” (or SOTD) playlist on lala.com and embedding it on the sidebar there to your right. I’ve been doing this for a few weeks now, silently. It’s time to break that silence.

Today’s (12/14/09 – I know, its late) Song of the Day is Them Crooked Vulture’s “No One Leaves Me & Neither Do I” of their recently released self-titled debut. Them Crooked Vultures is a rock “super group” made up of bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), drummer Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age), and vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal).

I’m not entirely into their album, but “No One Loves Me & Neither Do I” is a song I haven’t been able to shake off my “recently played” playlist on iTunes. Listen to the song on the player at the top of the right sidebar, or right under this text: Continue reading →

PMA Presents… The Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Vol. 1

PMA Presents... The Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Vol. 1 mixtapes musicWe knew Xaphoon Jones first as the producer and the sampling mastermind behind the quickly rising Chiddy Bang. Chiddy Bang owe most of the publicity they get to the tight, slick samples this guy has crafted for them. Like a musical pickpocket, Xaphoon Jones showed us that he has an ear for contemporary music and making it work in unconventional environments. With his debut eponymous mixtape, Xaphoon pushes passed the boundaries we thought he had and dips into soulful Motown favorites, East Coast Rap, and Reggae.

The Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Vol. 1 introduces us to a very young, very talented producer full of promise, if not power. Pretty Much Amazing is proud to present this mixtape for your consumption. Download it, put it on your iPod, burn it onto a CD, play it at a party, send it to your friends.

Oh Joy: Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, and This Guy.

Oh Joy: Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, and This Guy. mp3

Its been a while since anyone has heard anything about Radiohead, but finally, there is some news to post about: Johnny has informed Paste Magazine that the LP7 is finished. Downside is that we know nothing concerning a release date. So no Radiohead before 2008 Guys.

To ease your impatience, here are a couple soundboard recordings of new Radiohead material recorded last August in Switzerland.

MP3: Radiohead – Bangers ‘n’ Mash
MP3: Radiohead – Down Is the New Up

I do not have the patience to even get started on this Led Zeppelin nonsense, so why don’t you go read all about them at ZME.

Last on my list of videos to use when I take over the world is this: Its David, Bitch. Bow down to the man who made an acoustic rendition of Britney Spears’ VMA tragedy.
