Lil Wayne ‘No Ceilings’ Mixtape – Free Download [OFFICIAL VERSION]

Lil Wayne No Ceilings Mixtape Free Download [OFFICIAL VERSION] listenLil Wayne might be heading to jail, but that won’t stop him from spewing out monster mixtapes. I’m thinking this will be one of the last proper mixtapes we’re getting from Weezy in a while, so make sure you grab it. No Ceilings features recycled beats by Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, and even Lady GaGa/Kid Cudi/Kanye West. Major props to HustleGRL for the mad artwork for No Ceilings.

UPDATE: 2dopeboyz says: here is the official version of No Ceilings, featuring four new joints and an overall higher sound quality.

UPDATE2: No official tracklist (order wise) yet. smh… I swear this tape has been such a hassle haha! Tomorrow, the FINAL one will be available. Until then, just enjoy the music haha.

Weezer – I Can’t Stop Partying (ft. Lil Wayne)

Weezer I Cant Stop Partying (ft. Lil Wayne) listenThis is embarrassing and catchy, but it doesn’t have anything on “Let It Rock.”

I still can’t believe this happened, even if it is Weezer.

Lil Wayne – Run This Town

Lil Wayne Run This Town listenThe big news this week is that Lil Wayne is going to jail for up-to a year for gun possession, but this, of course, won’t be stopping Weezy from dropping his No Ceilings mixtape this Halloween. It’s been a while since I’ve kept up with Lil Wayne’s various off-album releases, but this track caught my attention.

My favorite Lil Wayne tracks, save for “A Milli,” have been some of his freestyles on his mixtapes, and his “Run This Town” freestyle brings back the Lil Wayne we were enjoying in late 07 and early 08. The lyricism of this track, coupled with Wayne’s vehement and overtly cocky delivery triggers thoughts of “A Milli,” not because it bears a resemblance to it, but because this “Run This Town” freestyle will fit nicely next to “A Milli” and among other mind-blowing performances that remind us why Weezy calls himself the Rapper Eater. Madonna – Revolver (ft. Lil Wayne)

Madonna Revolver (ft. Lil Wayne) listenThe Andy Warhol Drag Queen art is growing on me, but still might give me nightmares. Click for glorious hi-res.

Madge and Weezy. That sounds filthy, and if you’re a pop culture junkie, those three words can bring a whirlwind of excitement or dread. As you might have guessed, I fall into the former category.

“Revolver” will be included in Madonna’s third greatest hits compilation, Celebration. The compilation already includes the nostalgic, 90’s-fueled dance number and first single, “Celebration.” With “Revolver,” Her Madgesty comes full circle, sucking the life of modern pop music as we know it — or music that includes that, oh so coveted, “[ft. Lil Wayne]“. Madonna can be credited and charged with taking a huge part in shaping the pop music we listen to today. Just about every massive, international superstar walking the earth today owes Madonna their career.

The funny thing about that is that “Revolver” bares a striking resemblance to Britney Spears’ “Radar.” Not a fleeting, barely-there resemblance, but an in-your-face, the-way-”Poker Face”-sounds-like-”Just Dance” kind of way. The only difference is that I don’t think Madonna could have done “Revolver” without Lil Wayne. On this track, we hear one of Lil Wayne’s catchiest and well-structured verses in a long while.

But after all has been said and done, “Revolver” is a good track. It even edges out its big sibling “Radar.” Don’t underestimate Madge and Weezy. Listen to “Revolver” here Continue reading →

PMA Presents… The Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Vol. 1

PMA Presents... The Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Vol. 1 mixtapes musicWe knew Xaphoon Jones first as the producer and the sampling mastermind behind the quickly rising Chiddy Bang. Chiddy Bang owe most of the publicity they get to the tight, slick samples this guy has crafted for them. Like a musical pickpocket, Xaphoon Jones showed us that he has an ear for contemporary music and making it work in unconventional environments. With his debut eponymous mixtape, Xaphoon pushes passed the boundaries we thought he had and dips into soulful Motown favorites, East Coast Rap, and Reggae.

The Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Vol. 1 introduces us to a very young, very talented producer full of promise, if not power. Pretty Much Amazing is proud to present this mixtape for your consumption. Download it, put it on your iPod, burn it onto a CD, play it at a party, send it to your friends.

Drake (ft. Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem) – Forever

Drake (ft. Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem) Forever listen

I will forever think of Drake as “Jimmy” from Degrassi: The Next Generation. I can’t help it. When I heard he started a rap career a few years ago I didn’t pay much attention. The only thing that might change my mind would be the support of legitimate artists.Drake has not only done this but he has also brought a king.

“Forever” is a new single for the upcoming Lebron James documentary “More Than A Game”. Drake gets the credit for the song but all four rappers each get a verse in this six minute song. Opening with Drake it is clear that this kid is not original.

He lacks any enticing kind of flow, and he attempts to come through with a delivery resembling Wayne’s without any of Wayne’s success. Kanye follows Drake after a both mediocre and cheese chorus and he doesn’t have much more success than Drake did. This beat doesn’t suit Kanye’s style or flow very well and he would be better suited out of the song entirely.

Wayne and Eminem actually thrive on this track, both of them have great delivery that save the song and seem fitting for a “Lebron James track.” If you want to hear how Eminem sounds lately or hear a good Weezy verse then this song is worth checking out. The real recommendation for this track is the trailer for Lebron’s new movie which actually looks pretty good. Listen to “Forever” here Continue reading →

Best Songs of the Decade (2000-2009)

I wasn’t going to do this. Working on the Best Albums of the 2000s was going to be enough work. But after reading through some pretty great lists by Pitchfork, I Guess I’m Floating and Gorilla vs Bear, I was reminded of something very important — although the album is the most vital instrument a musician has at his disposal to get an idea or feeling across to listeners, we can’t undermine the importance of a song. A song gives you small doses of relief, comfort, or what have you, minutes at a time.

I gave a fair amount of thought into this list, but for the most part, I knew how it would turn out. This list is mine and mine alone; I am inviting you to my world where I don’t need to explain myself or answer to anyone. But as always, I encourage you all to leave your thoughts and your personal picks in the comment section.

I would like to end with… well, I can’t really say it better than Connor from IGIF. The last 10 years have been the biggest of my life, especially my life as a music lover, so these next 120 songs are the songs that have shaped and molded me into whoever I am today. That’s as personal as it gets.

Santigold – Southerngold (Terry Urban & Gold Coin Clothing Mixtape)

Santigold Southerngold (Terry Urban & Gold Coin Clothing Mixtape) feature

Earlier this month, Terry Urban, the genius mastermind behind many mashup mixtapes featuring Kanye West, Jay-Z, Coldplay, and others, was preparing to unleash his latest mixtape Southerngold which basically takes Santigold’s debut album and mashes it up with various rappers from the good ole South. Unfortunately Santigold’s record label, Downtown Records, issues a cease and desist order and officially shut the project down.

Of course, this didn’t stop Southerngold from circulating all over the net. I’ve stayed away from it, until now. Music Bitch reports that “Santigold herself declared that she supported the mixtape culture and she would like it to be released.” That’s enough for me. If Santi wants people to listen to the mixtape, then people ought to listen to it! I will help make Santigold’s wishes come true by telling y’all download the mixtape in its entirety right here. What are you waiting for? Continue reading →

Lil Wayne, Kanye West, T.I., Jay-Z – U Ain’t Neva Gottz Ask

Lil Wayne, Kanye West, T.I., Jay Z U Aint Neva Gottz Ask listen

No it doesn’t entirely match the energy of “Swagga Like Us,” in fact, its more reminiscent of Mr. Carter off of Wayne’s Tha Carter III but “U Ain’t Neva Gottz Ask” is still an incredible collaboration regardless.

There’s so much going on in this song – the crazy sped up piano, the thuming hand clap like beat, the booming echoes in the background, and of course the re-interpolation of George Michael’s schmaltzy “Careless Whisper.” In the hands of less capable and assured producers all of these elements could have ended up sounding like a mess, but on “U Ain’t Neva Gottz Ask” it all comes together perfectly.

Bonus points for the use of my favorite Jay-Z rhymes, Justify My Thug. Take note Flo Rida and BEP, this is how you build a song around samples. Listen to “U Ain’t Neva Gottz Ask” after the jump Continue reading →
