Lily Allen – I Could Say (Doctor Rosen Rosen Remix) [PMA Premiere]

Lily Allen I Could Say (Doctor Rosen Rosen Remix) [PMA Premiere] listen

Los Angeles’ Doctor Rosen Rosen has set out on an ambitious quest to remix all of Lily Allen’s It’s Not Me, It’s You. Maybe “remix” is an understatement here because the good Doctor is only using Lily’s vocal track; he is recreating everything else. A while ago, I posted his recreation of Lily Allen’s “Fuck You,” and since then, a few other remixes from the album have leaked.

Tonight PMA is premiering another track off It’s Not Me… It’s Doctor Rosen Rosen, “I Could Say.” Doctor Rosen Rosen flips “I Could Say” on its head and gives it a spacey, existential pop feel. Without a doubt, this remix album will be a rewarding listen to any of those interesting in discovering “silverpop.”

Lily Allen – Fuck You (Doctor Rosen Rosen Remix)

Lily Allen Fuck You (Doctor Rosen Rosen Remix) mp3
El Ley producer/artist Doctor Rosen Rosen, who has remixed the likes of Britney Spears, Eminem, and Phoenix, has taken it up upon himself to re-produce Lily Allen’s It’s Not Me, It’s You. He has only taken Lily’s vocal samples and has put them over his own productions creating the It’s Not Me, It’s Doctor Rosen Rosen Remix Album.

Doctor Rosen Rosen’s remix of Lily Allen’s “Fuck You” has been spread around via GMail to give everyone a taste of the Doctor and Lily. Unsurprisingly, the result is  triumphant.

Listen to Rosen’s remix of “Fuck You” here Continue reading →

Lily Allen – It’s Not Me, It’s You Album Review

Lily Allen Its Not Me, Its You Album Review album reviews reviews 2

[rating:69/100]

Lily Allen is the ideal 21st century pop star to me. She is a pop star that has been able to break the mainstream, while also becoming an indie darling. With the help of the Internet and a talent for writing irresistible songs, her debut album “Alright, Still” was a success on the UK charts and with critics. You could also say that she is responsible for the direction that many female artists such as Kate Nash have taken in regards to pop with harsh romance based lyrics. What makes Lily Allen so special is the joyous feeling that her music brings. No matter what type of mood I am in, listening to her rip other men a new one puts a smile on my face. That is quite a  talent Lily! Thankfully after almost 3 years, Allen has finally released her long awaited sophomore album “It’s Not Me, It’s You”, and there is plenty to be pleased about. Lily Allen – Never Gonna Happen

These .mp3s should not be affected by the server downtime

Lily Allen Never Gonna Happen listen

Lily Allen – Never Gonna Happen

I won’t talk about Lily Allen’s new album, It’s Not Me, It’s You much here because you will be reading Pretty Much Amazing’s review of it really soon. But I will talk about “Never Gonna Happen” — easily one of my favorite songs on the album. The title for my absolute favorite track off the album would go to “Fuck You” — but we’ve been listening to demos of that song for 6 months now, so I wanted to share a brand new track with you. “Never Gonna Happen” can be seen as Knock ‘Em Out’s laid back cousin — but probably not as funny. Luckily, Lily Allen’s new album relies less on humor and a bit more on deeper lyrics. Not too deep though. Best anti-Valentine’s Day song of 2009? I nominate “Never Gonna Happen.” Preview it below: Continue reading →

pmaCAST #6: The “F*** My Life” Episode

pmaCAST #6: The F*** My Life Episode mp3

REMINDER:: WATCH THE GRAMMYS TONIGHT ON CBS 8PM ET/PT!

Have you ever tried counting how many times you say “Fuck My Life” out loud? No? You should. The results may shock you. I stopped counting after my tally hit 13. Maybe I’m just a big whiner, but a couple of days ago I created this playlist on my iPod to de-stress myself. It features some great tunes that have always made me happy and don’t remind me of anything negative — good vibes all around. It worked out pretty well.

So when Saturday night came around, I was stumped trying to come up with a theme/tracklist for today’s pmaCAST. Then I had an epiphany: I am not the only guy in the world who needs some de-stressing. My stress is nothing compared to people with real problems! So why should I lock this playlist up in the sweet confines of my iPod? I love you guys too much to do that.

There’s really nothing much to say about this week’s pmaCAST, other than it is meant to be really feel good-y. I start it up with my FAVORITE song of the moment, Feist and Ben Gibbard’s “Train Song.” I follow it up with Little Jackie’s “The World Should Revolve Around Me” and Lenka’s “The Show,” two of my favorite songs out on Top 40 radio. Then comes the Mae Shi with their Christian Bale tribute “R U Professional” — if this song doesn’t make you smile, you’re retarded. Up next are the Veronicas with their brutally stoic and heartless piece of pop majesty, “Untouched.” The next three songs are by artists you should really keep an eye on from now on: The Whitest Boy Alive, Passion Pit, and Ted & Francis. Following them is a club remix (though it doesn’t really sound like it) of Hercules & Love Affair’s “Blind” — one of 2008’s most beautifully sad anthems.

I threw in “Walking On A Dream” by Empire of the Sun (another band you should keep an eye on) right before Lily Allen’s “Fuck You,” off her new album, It’s Not Me, It’s You. This song is trill. Like super trill. I close up the podcast with a new Timid Tiger song. I know some of you are really feeling their stuff, and I’m glad. “Gadget Girls” is another song that will be featured on Timid Tiger’s new EP that will be released here pretty soon, more info on that later, I promise.

So that’s the rundown of what’s playing on this week’s pmaCAST. So tell me, what did/do you need de-stressing on? PS: Check this site out, good for a few lolz

Lily Allen – He Wasn’t There, Fag Hag, 22, Kabul Shit, Straight To Hell

Lily Allen He Wasnt There, Fag Hag, 22, Kabul Shit, Straight To Hell listen

FIVE new Lily Allen tracks have leaked. The first four, I’m almost positive, are cuts from her upcoming It’s Not Me, It’s You due out in February. The fifth track, a Clash cover (the song that made M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” possible), is a cut that will be featured on Warchild’s Heroes compilation (go here for tracklisting information).

I’ve missed Lily Allen, she’s one of my favorite artists to blog about. Her music is too much fun — “Fag Hag” is devastatingly endearing and funny. Listen to the 5 new tracks after the jump! Continue reading →

Some Remixes on a Sunday #3

Some Remixes on a Sunday #3 mp3

Continuing this from two Sundays ago.

It’s crazy how many great mixes you can across in a single week. These 10 were my favorite finds of the week. Big thanks to Ohh! Crapp, Fancy Sounds, Sundtrak, HypeM, and probably the biggest shout out goes to the people who send me their mixes!

On the last “Some Remixes on a Sunday” post, I focused a lot on movies. Mostly the films that I wanted to see. Since then, I have seen Frost/Nixon, The Wrestler, The Reader, Defiance, and Happy-Go-Lucky. I’m still DYING to watch Rachel Getting Married. For some reason, something gets in the way of me watching it at the theater whenever I decide to go out and watch it. And the torrent is nowhere to be found, a little less than a month away from the Oscars. It’s driving me nuts! I’m a sucker for contemp dramas — yes, I’m really pissed at the way Revolutionary Road was royally dissed on the Oscar nominations — so if any of your have some sort of Rachel Getting Married hook-up, pass it along,  yeah?

I can’t really talk much, listening to this new Weezy track that’s sort of ridiculous. Weezy doing rock music is definitely not my cup of tea. More about it tomorrow. Till then, here are my favorite mixes of the week! Continue reading →

Lily Allen and Ladyhawke Cover Britney Spears, and So Should You!

This probably made my Christmas.

No, it really did.

Lily Allen is probably my favorite British girl vocalist at the moment, and listening to her acoustic rendition of Britney’s “Womanizer” is just magical.

Don’t know if this will work or not… but

SPREAD THE WORD: Pretty Much Amazing is calling out bands everywhere (especially ones who email me wanting their material on this blog), COVER “WOMANIZER” AND GET PMA-EXPOSURE.

Hopefully some people will email me with their covers, but until then, Listen to Lily Allen and Ladyhawk tackle “Womanizer”
