Ellie Goulding – Under The Sheets

Ellie Goulding Under The Sheets listen

Hailing from LDN-town, Ellie Goulding and her producer Starsmith have been spitting out jams for a minute, but she’s finally getting a proper single released in the US, thanks to Neon Gold (one of our favorite new labels, respect).

“Under The Sheets” adequately showcases the tantalizing sound Ellie and Starsmith can devise together. Think of Ellie Goulding as the sonic lovechild of Little Boots and Florence + The Machine. However, Ellie just happens to take after Little Boots a bit more.

It comes to no surprise that Ellie is supporting both Little Boots and Florence + the Machine at various European dates. But make sure to catch Ellie’s first headline show in London, if you’re in town. It’s on December 1st.

Yes Giantess’ Jan Rosenfeld Wants You To Dance, Played with Little Boots in New York

Yes Giantess Jan Rosenfeld Wants You To Dance, Played with Little Boots in New York feature

PMA was at Little Boots’ Bowery show featuring Yes Giantess and The Plastiscines Wednesday. We got to talk to Jan Rosenfeld of Yes Giantess outside the venue standing in front of the JMZ Bowery station subway entrance. It was a short, five minute chat before the start of the show.

As you know, Yes Giantess (formerly just Giantess) are the four piece synthpop band from Boston that caught our attention after showing up in the pages of NME amid much praise. Jan’s the lead vocalist and songwriter of the group. We asked him to explain a few things about the band and he obliged. Below, we discuss everything from porn to Twitter. Jan enlightens us on the band’s influences, how they got hooked up with miss Boots herself, and their undying drive to get you kids dancing. Continue reading →

Little Boots – Remedy (A1 Bassline Get Hype Remix)

Little Boots Remedy (A1 Bassline Get Hype Remix) listen
Little Boots’ “Remedy,” is by far, my favorite song off her full-length debut album Hands. It’s going to be a sure-fire hit. But in the meantime, Little Boots has recruited DJ A1 Bassline to remix “Remedy” and turn it into a dance-floor burning 5-minute smash.

Anticipation can be a terrible thing.

After the BBC, various ‘zines, and blogs proclaimed rising space-pop starlet Little Boots as The One To Watch for 2009 way back in December (guilty as charged!), the hype cloud hovering over poor Boots was muddying up her debut with impossible expectations long before its release.

First was the announcement of “New In Town” as the first single–a simple ditty with a predictable verse-chorus pop confection nowhere near the trance throbs of breakout track, “Stuck On Repeat,” causing some fans to cry “too commercial” from the start. Following that was a larger offense–the video; a misguided attempt at keeping it “cool,” featuring a deer-in-the-headlights Boots wandering in between break-dancing homeless citizens and horned-up teens performing fellatio in rhythm. It was unearthly–and not in the Little Boots kind of way.

But looking past the hyper-criticism of the campaign, Boots continued on her own path to debut. On June 8, the space cadet finally, officially landed in the UK. And her offering to the public? Why, her Hands, of course! Continue reading →

For those of you who haven’t heard the album, here’s another sneak peak into the Little Boots goodness. “Tune Into My Heart” is one of the smoother songs on the album, with a lush chorus and bubbly synths throughout.

And here is the fourteenth installment of the pmaCAST, a bi-monthly playlist that I hope will enrich and soundtrack your week. I’m not going to upload and post up all of the tracks like I did last time, but I will put up a few tracks featured on this weeks’ playlist that I think will make your life a lot less sucky.

Ratatat – Lex
MEN – Credit Card Babie$
The Pragmatic – You Blame Me
The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – Push The Envelope

Please (HEART) these songs if you enjoyed them!

Little Boots’ long anticipated debut album, Hands has finally hit the web in a form of a craptastic webrip. The quality leaves a lot to be desires, especially when it comes to the awesome aural affects Little Boots has undoubtedly made sure we experience when listening to the album. Little Boots – Rich Boys (The Virgins Cover)

Little Boots Rich Boys (The Virgins Cover) covers
I think I slept on this one, but thank you Mel for emailing me this track! At some point in the not-so-forgotten past, electro-pop sensation Little Boots covered one of the only songs I like from the Virgins and added her little synth-touch to it over a generic electric guitar loop.

You can tell this song was recorded and produced in no more than 15 minutes, but it’s the simplicity of this cover that makes it so good. I’m glad she recorded this proper, unlike her “Day N Nite” cover. So Boots, when are we going to hear that Kid Cudi collaboration you hinted towards at SXSW? Listen to the cover here.
